    Canoeing

    Fernando Pimenta started swimming in 1993, when he was just 4 years old, and that was the sport he practiced until he discovered canoeing in the summer of 2001. He lacked coordination and balance and was not expected to have much of a future in the sport, but he went against all expectations and has given the country many sporting achievements, accumulating over a hundred medals and three decorations from the President of the Republic.
