Mariana Machado is the daughter of Olympic athlete Albertina Machado. Born in Braga and passionate about her city, Mariana organizes her days to combine athletics with her medical degree at the University of Minho. Inevitably, athletics has always been present in her life due to family influence, but she started practicing the sport in 2015, joining Sporting Clube de Braga, her current club, due to some influence from her mother (Albertina Machado, one of the all-time greats of Braga and national athletics). In just a short time, she has achieved the status of high-performance athlete awarded by the Portuguese Athletics Federation, and is one of the greatest revelations and hopes of the national middle distance. Mariana Machado argues that "when you have defined goals and are ambitious, nothing can stop you, not even time!" And that's how she faces life, in a determined, organized and ambitious way.
